Dr. S. George Djorgovski is a Professor of Astronomy and a Co-Director of the Center for Advanced Computing Research at Caltech. Director of the Center for Data-Driven Discovery and the Director of the Meta-Institute for Computational Astrophysics, the first professional scientific organization based in virtual worlds. Dr. Djorgovski is currently the author and co-author of several hundred scientific publications, covering the fields of astrophysics, cosmology, and computational science, as well as a celebrated international speaker. We were honored to and thrilled to have him speak at our S.T.E.A.M. Speaker Event!
Engineering and Creating a Sustainable Future
Christine Reusch An engineer for the City of Los Angeles, Christine Reusch has worked for over twenty years. Mrs. Reusch is also involved with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti's "back to the basics" program, identifying drivers and metrics throughout the Public Works, Bureau of Engineering. While working in the private sector, she worked at the Getty Conversation Institute designing hermetically sealed cases for the storage of mummies in Egypt. The cases she helped to create hold artifacts in several museams around the world preserving historical antiquies for all current and future generations to enjoy. Mrs. Reusch recently completed an Engineering Management degree, which included sustainability studies at the Technical University Ingolstadt, Germany. She is a Board Member for the Society of Women Engineers, Ventura Chapter.
